Donald Trump is poised for a major international move, according to the latest report from Reuters.
According to the international newswire, the Trump Organization, owned and operated by Donald J. Trump, plans to invest roughly 150 million pounds (the equivalent of $197 million) in one of his Scottish golf resorts.
Trump has been an avid golfer before, during and after his presidency. He owns one of the most impressive golf resort portfolios in the world, including two in Scotland.
As Reuters noted, the Trump resort near Balmedie in northeast Scotland, has attracted “fierce criticism” from locals and environmentalists.
The Trump Organization has already spent 100 million pounds in the first phase of the development and has promised “750 million pounds in total,” according to Reuters.
Trump’s plan calls for 500 residential homes, 50 hotel cottages, a sports center, retail, equestrian and commercial spaces at his Aberdeen resort, along with “other leisure activities.”
“Initial interest to our plans have been incredible and, subject to detailed planning approval, we are aiming to break ground next year,” Eric Trump, the second-oldest son of the former president, said in a written statement.
Trump, personally, has yet to comment on the investment. Trump is currently the subject of a trial in New York centered on an alleged hush money payment to an adult actress.
