7. Madden NFL 08
Certified Bangers: “Countdown,” by Jupiter One, “Desire,” by Pharaohe Monch, “It’s Me Snitches,” by Swizz Beatz
Other Phat Tracks: “Whatcha Got,” by Brother Ali, “Daylight Slaving,” From Autumn To Ashes, “Dreadlocks,” by Murs and “Underclass Hero,” by Sum 41
Damn, Son. Where’d You Find This?: “Brooklyn Anthem,” by Team Shadetek (featuring 77Klash and Jahdan)
Freeze…….. It’s me Snitches. Madden NFL 08 featured Vince Young on the cover and its soundtrack was just as eclectic as VY’s unorthodox throwing motion. With absolute bangers ranging from indie-leaning Jupiter One to backpack stalwart Pharaohe Monch, the 2008 entry featured music from all corners of the music world.
However, the undisputed champion of the 2008 soundtrack was the incredibly buckwild joint “Brooklyn Anthem,” by Team Shadetek. While people often look towards Jay Z or the Beastie Boys for anthems celebrating Crooklyn, Team Shadetek’s hyphy masterpiece is criminally overlooked.
Fun Fact: The Spanish version of Madden NFL 08 contained songs from Disney starlets Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens. Bueno.
