Curses are no stranger to sports. Many are well known, and many seem to be unequivocally true. One of the more popular curses to be placed on a team resides on the North Side of Chicago. Back in 1945, Billy Goat Tavern owner Billy Sianis was asked to leave a Chicago Cubs World Series game due to his pet goats awful smell. Since then the Cubs have not won a National League Pennant. That may have all changed today, when a mysterious package arrived addressed to Tom Ricketts.
According to the Chicago Tribune:
The man drove up to the ballpark around 2 p.m. Wednesday and handed a package to a security guard at Gate K, according to police and Cubs spokesman Julian Green.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX!?!?!
The man asked the guard to deliver the package to Ricketts, then got back into his truck and drove away, police said. Security officials found the goat’s head inside. The head was all black and had a U.S. Department of Agriculture tag on its ear, police said.
A goats head. An entire goats head? (We assume it was USDA certified nonetheless) Authorities were called, and Mr. Ricketts never actually got the package. Ether way, maybe this will bring some good fortune to the Lovable Losers. It definitely can’t make them any worse.
