The rivalry between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets just got more intense. New York City will host the NBA’s 2015 All-Star Weekend, but be played in two different arenas. Sunday’s All-Star Game will be at the New York Knicks home court, Madison Square Garden and the dunk contest, the 3-point shooting contest and the skills challenge will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. This will be the fifth All-Star game held at the “World’s Most Famous Arena” and will put a spotlight on the new Barclays Center. This could be the final All-Star Game for MSG because the New York City Council voted almost unanimously to end the lease with Madison Square Garden in 2023 and force them to move out of Penn Station.
The unusual All-Star Game will formally be announced by commissioner David Stern and deputy commissioner Adam Silver at a Wednesday press conference in New York.
