On Sunday, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson revealed during a Q&A session with Miles McPherson that he and his girlfriend Ciara are practicing abstinence because of Christian beliefs.
Wilson told McPherson that God came to him in Ciara’s dressing room and told Wilson to be a leader or something.
“God spoke to me and He said to me, ‘I need you to lead her,’” Wilson said.
“I was like, Really? Right now? And He said, ‘I want you and need you to lead her.’”
“Leading” apparently led Wilson to ask Ciara to abstain from sex for the sake of their relationship.
“What would you do if we took all of that extra stuff off of the table and just did it Jesus’ way?” Wilson said he asked Ciara, who he says was OK with the plan to sack sex.
Wilson’s disclosure of his sex life (or lack thereof) with Ciara made its way to ESPN’s Highly Questionable where Bomani Jones made some remarks on the subject which irritated his ESPN colleague (and vocal born-again Christian) Chris Broussard.
(1 of 2) @bomani_jones on @HQonESPN regarding Russell/Ciara u implied people trying 2 do it Jesus' way by waiting till marriage r stupid.

(2 of 3) @bomani_jones u owe all Bible-believing Christians trying to live as Russell/Ciara are an apology
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
As of this writing, there is no (3 of 3) or (3 of 4) to use Broussard’s writing pattern here.
Despite Broussard’s finger-wagging, Jones stuck to his guns and directly addressed Broussard’s grandstanding head on.
i believe the underlying premise is flawed and about controlling women as much as anything else. so yes. https://t.co/DUyjVgmoAm

i tolerate a lot of all of your religious views to keep things peaceful. the sex stuff is where i refuse. be mad. i ain't. at all.

Leave it to the fine folks who work at ESPN to somehow make Russell Wilson’s lack of a sex life much more entertaining than it has any right being.
