Kobe Bryant made waves on January 4th when he finally joined Twitter, and the Black Mamba has amassed nearly 900,000 followers since. Meanwhile, on January 16th, in a slightly less ceremonious occasion, former NBA forward and fan favorite Brian Scalabrine (aka, White Mamba) also joined Twitter. He’s gained a respectable amount of followers so far (46,500), while having some fun at the expense of those who dared to poke fun at his career.
First a nice introduction:
Held out longer than the Black Mamba….Brace yourselves, the White Mamba is in the building. #MambaTweets

Next, he’s pumped to watch his two favorite former teammates, Kevin Garnett and Joakim Noah, go at it on Friday night:
Can’t wait to see 2 of my favorite teammates KG and Jo battle it out tonight. Imagine if they were on the same team. CRAZY ENERGY

Now, here’s the real reason why he probably started the account. Some Boston-area ballers thought they could compete with an NBA player one-on-one. Based on the preview, there may have been a few regrets on their part.
So what is the #Scallenge u ask? A bunch of local clowns thought they could beat me in hoops. A preview of what ensued csnne.com/basketball-bos…

Ultimately, you can’t spend almost an entire NBA career at the end of the bench and not have a sense of humor about it…
“@stormmensing: @scalabrine>@kobebryant White Mamba>Black Mamba” At what? Celebratory high fives?
— Brian Scalabrine (@Scalabrine) January 18, 2013
…see:
“@ctakacs28: @scalabrine how many minutes you average?” About as much time as you spent with your girl last night. 2.3 minutes
— Brian Scalabrine (@Scalabrine) January 19, 2013
Oh, and he’d like to remind everyone that there’s only one White Mamba.
“@sun_e_d92: @scalabrine what are your thoughts on @bscalabrine24‘s tweets? I’m the only white mamba that you should be following.
— Brian Scalabrine (@Scalabrine) January 19, 2013
You got it, Scal. You can watch the White Mamba take on various Beantown scrubs on CSN New England January 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
