The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback this season after previous starter Kyle McCord left the team to transfer to Syracuse. But it sounds like the team is still waiting to see who that quarterback will be.
During his press conference at Big Ten Media Days last week, Ryan Day explained the decision the Buckeyes are currently facing when it comes to naming a starting quarterback.
“Going into the spring, you had Lincoln (Kienholz) and you had Devin (Brown) who were really the only ones that really knew the offense. So we wanted to kind of get through the spring, see what that looked like, go through the summer, and now the first two weeks of preseason, I think we’ll have a better idea of kind of where everybody is based on their knowledge of the offense,” Day said according to Eleven Warriors. “Some guys have really stepped up in the summer, and whether it’s leadership, there’s a lot of different things you can evaluate in the summer. But it’s going to come down to what happens on the field.”
The competition seems to be coming down to Brown and Kansas State Wildcats transfer quarterback Will Howard with freshmen Julian Sayin and Air Noland trying to push for the job, as well.
We’ll have to see who ultimately earns the job.
