Last season, the Ohio State Buckeyes debuted brand new alternate gray home uniforms for the first time during a game against the Michigan State Spartans. And it sounds like the Buckeyes will wear the gray version of their alternate uniform yet again this year.

According to a report from Ohio State beat writer Tony Gerdeman of Buckeye Huddle, Ohio State has announced that the team will be wearing their all-gray alternate uniforms for their Oct. 5 home game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

“Ohio State announces the football team will be wearing alternate gray uniforms for the game against Iowa this season,” Gerdeman said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is a pretty big announcement considering the uniforms have only been worn once before, and it’s led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Ohio State now has several color combinations of its classic home uniform format with a gray, white, scarlet and black version of their jerseys and pants as well as a black helmet.

The gray version of the jerseys had never been worn before last season, but it seems like it might become a mainstay in the uniform rotation.
