Ohio State Buckeyes superstar cornerback Denzel Burke decided to return to the Buckeyes for one more season, passing up a chance to likely be selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. And it sounds like Ohio State’s lack of success against Michigan in recent years is a big reason why.
During Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis last week, Denzel Burke did not hold back his true feelings when he was asked if Ohio State’s three consecutive losses to Michigan played a part in his decision to return to Ohio State this season.
“Every part of it, honestly,” Burke said according to On3. “No gold pants, no natty.”
“So that was a big part of one of the reasons why we came back and we’re all on the same page. We got to win every single game no if, ands, or buts about it.”
No player on Ohio State’s roster has ever experienced a win over Michigan as the last time the Buckeyes beat the Wolverines was back in 2019. The 2020 contest was canceled due to a COVID-19 breakout at Michigan and the Wolverines have topped Ohio State in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
We’ll have to see whether or not Burke and the Buckeyes can get a win over their rivals this season.
