Former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Art Schlichter once had a promising career ahead of him, but it was derailed by a gambling addition that ultimately led to crimes that landed him in prison. And now it seems like the former quarterback is dealing with drug problems.
Earlier this month, Art Schlichter was arrested on a drug charge while on probation for a previous drug charge.
“An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper wrote in a criminal complaint that he stopped a disabled vehicle driven by Schlichter near East Hudson Street and Hamilton Avenue on Feb. 2 at around 4:22 p.m.” WSYX reported last week.
“Schlichter handed the trooper a crack pipe, and a search revealed small white rocks believed to be crack cocaine inside the car, the court documents said. He was charged with fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine and given a summons to appear in court next week.”
Obviously, this is horrible and sad news for the former Ohio State quarterback as his life sees another unfortunate twist, and the college football world had a lot to say about it on social media.
Man, one of the best. Praying for him

Sadly, looks like he will never change. Some get help and some don’t. Some help themselves and some don’t.
The rest go to prison!— The Real Johny DePlorable (@JohnyDeplorable) February 7, 2024
Oh man…tragic story continues for Art https://t.co/E1F4PObLgD

Schlichter had a record-breaking season with the Ohio State Buckeyes before becoming the first quarterback ever selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in program history.
