For over a year, legendary quarterback Tom Brady has been trying to gain approval from the league owners to become a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders franchise. He’s been waiting a long time, and in a brutal turn of events, it sounds like he’s going to have to wait even longer.

According to a report from Mark Maske of the Washington Post, the NFL owners are not expected to vote on whether or not to approve Tom Brady as a team owner at their meetings this week.

“It’s doubtful that NFL owners will take an approval vote during their meeting Tuesday and Wednesday in Nashville on Tom Brady’s proposed deal for part-ownership of the Raiders. It’s possible but unlikely, two sources say. The deal remains pending before the NFL finance committee,” Maske said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“If NFL owners do not vote this week on Tom Brady’s proposed deal for part-ownership of the Raiders, their next scheduled meeting is in October. So barring an unexpected vote this week or a special owners’ meeting this summer, the wait will continue for approval of Brady’s deal,” Maske said in a follow-up post.

This is clearly some brutal news for Brady, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

There appear to be a few things preventing the owners from approving Brady including a massive discount on the sale as well as his current status as a Fox commentator. We’ll have to see whether or not the sale is ever approved.
