The Ohio State Buckeyes athletics community got some pretty scary news on Tuesday as wrestling head coach Tom Ryan was involved in a pretty major car accident that left him injured.
Jerod Smalley of NBC4 in Columbus reports that Tom Ryan was involved in a car crash on his way to campus.
“Ohio State says @wrestlingbucks head coach Tom Ryan was involved in a car crash this morning as he was driving to campus. His injuries are non-life threatening and no one else was injured,” Smalley said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s obviously great to hear that Ryan’s injuries were not life-threatening, notable wrestling reporter and analyst Huskermat reported some scary details, revealing that Ryan hit a semi-truck and that the airbags in his car “probably saved him.”
Sounds like OSU Coach Tom Ryan hit a semi on his way to work. Totaled car, airbags probably saved him. Long road back but it could have been way way worse. Hopefully a full recovery ahead! 🙏

Obviously, this was a very scary situation for the Ohio State community, but it sounds like it could have been far worse.
