Former Washington Commanders team owner Dan Snyder is a notorious friend and supporter of former United States President Donald Trump, but he recently made the mistake of funding a movie that paints Trump in a pretty poor late, and it sounds like Trump is pretty furious about it.
According to a report from Variety, Donald Trump and his legal team have sent a cease and desist letter to the makers behind the movie The Apprentice in an attempt to block the film, which details his early life and business career of Trump. And Trump’s legal team had a pretty scathing statement in response to the film, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival last week where it got an eight-minute standing ovation.
“This ‘film’ is pure malicious defamation, should not see the light of day, and doesn’t even deserve a place in the straight-to-DVD section of a bargain bin at a soon-to-be-closed discount movie store, it belongs in a dumpster fire,” Steven Cheung, Trump campaign communications director, said in a statement, according to Variety.
Snyder was a major financial backer of the film, but he thought it was going to paint Trump in a positive light. He was reportedly furious when he saw the completed film and has tried to block its release, like Trump.
We’ll have to see if it is ever released in the United States.
