Transgender Volleyball Players Transgender Volleyball Players

Last month, five transgender female volleyball players reportedly competed in a collegiate volleyball match between two Canadian colleges in Toronto. And people were not exactly happy about it.

Last month, Canadian media website Rebel News – which has become known for its far-right political and social commentary – reported that five transgender female volleyball players competed in a collegiate women’s volleyball game last month in Toronto.

According to the report, the match between Centennial College against Seneca College on Jan. 24 included five total transgender competitors: two transgender women playing on the Centennial College roster and and three transgender women playing on the Seneca College roster. Seneca ultimately won the best-of-five series, topping Centennial by a score of three games to one.

The fact that five transgender women competed in the match caused a massive outcry on social media as people offered their reactions.

Rebel News attended the match and claimed that its employees “were continually harassed, our cameras were blocked,” saying that “at one point, security guards told us we had to leave because we were causing ‘a disturbance’ in the stands.” The outlet also claimed that its employees attempted interviews with the transgender players after the match, but claimed that they “were threatened by security guards that we’d be ‘trespassed’ if we did not leave the venue immediately.”
