There’s no real question about the long-term future of Trevor Lawrence with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that doesn’t mean the team doesn’t think there is room for him to improve, particularly in terms of protecting the football.
During his three seasons in the NFL, Trevor Lawrence has thrown 39 interceptions and fumbled the ball 33 times. As a result, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson called him out a bit during his week, letting everyone know that these turnovers were not acceptable.
“It’s the biggest thing that he has to focus on moving forward,” Pederson said according to ESPN. “We just can’t have this amount of turnovers. How we turn the ball over, where we turn the ball over, it doesn’t matter. We’ve got to protect the football. That’s the No. 1 thing. For the quarterback, the person that touches the ball every snap, we got to make sure the emphasis is taking care of the ball.”
It’s a pretty blunt message from Pederson to Lawrence, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
disappointing man. Doug is right, but many more people deserve some public criticism/accountability before 16 does.
Including and not limited to, his hand picked OC. https://t.co/03Dien1kju

Only guy Doug will criticize publicly is his QB.
Obviously he was asked specifically about Trevor but when given the opportunity to address other issues on the team he is no where near as clear with his answers https://t.co/Fr7HShLqQe— Josh Collier (@J_Collyay) February 1, 2024
I've seen enough, I would end the T-Law experiment, he'll never be good enough. https://t.co/pLo6CLYo1B

He should use his legs more too and he they need to drill him scrambling more and ensuring he’s protecting the football when he does https://t.co/Hh8a3woyES

If his play doesn't improve with all the hype he got coming out of College, I think you have to start thinking about putting him the top draft busts conversation. I like Trevor but he has to play better https://t.co/GyTmCvGcrW

It’s quite clear that Lawrence needs to protect the ball better if the Jaguars are going to meet their goals next year. We’ll have to see how he can improve.
