The Buccaneers are sure to look almost nothing like they did to start the 2013 season. Josh Freeman and Greg Schiano are out and Josh McCown and Lovie Smith are in. Don’t overlook the addition of offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford who should help develop young quarterback Mike Glennon and help Smith organize the team’s offensive scheme.
The Bucs offense could be good and at the very least, they should improve on last season. McCown offers a steadying presence at quarterback, the team drafted Mike Evans to help take some of the burden off of Vincent Jackson at wide receiver and Doug Martin should improve from a disappointing 2013 season thanks to the addition of Evan Dietrich-Smith from Green Bay.
How Tampa Bay’s defense fares is a bit more of a question mark. The team has one of the best young linebackers in the NFL in Lavonte David and the Bucs added DE Michael Johnson as well as the talented cornerback Alterraun Verner but Dashon Goldson has seemingly been more concentrated on racking up fines than he’s been concerned with sound tackling and the loss of Darrelle Revis should not be understated.
