Jameis Winston has been with the New Orleans Saints since joining the team ahead of the 2020 season. During that time, however, he has never been the team’s full-time starting quarterback. And as he heads into free agency, it sounds like he will be pursuing an opportunity to be a starter.

Winston recently said that he would “love” to remain in New Orleans playing with the Saints throughout the rest of his career. But in a recent interview, Winston made it clear that his greater desire is to be a starting quarterback in the league, and he just does not see that happening with the New Orleans Saints.

“However, my goal is to be, and my desire is to be, a Super Bowl-winning starting quarterback in this league,” Winston said according to Sports Illustrated. “Right now, that doesn’t look like a very clear picture with the New Orleans Saints.”

These comments would suggest that Winston will look around for other opportunities around the league as he heads into free agency this offseason. However, Winston will have a lot of competition, as well, with six former starting quarterbacks heading into free agency along with the possibility that Justin Fields is traded from the Chicago Bears.

We’ll have to see where Winston lands and if he gets an opportunity as a starter.
