Clay Travis’ book came out just over a week ago and the ‘Lock It In’ host thinks the reason it didn’t hit the New York Times bestseller list is because it featured an image of President Donald Trump dunking on Colin Kaepernick.
So despite selling more copies than many of the books on @nytimes bestseller list they left my book off. I bet if I’d had Kaepernick dunking on Trump on the cover I would have made it. Buy your copies here: https://t.co/ud4qRCuVYY

That’s quite the claim. And, one that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
Three conservative-authored books checked in on the top-15 of the New York Times bestseller list. So, it’s unlikely Clay was blackballed for his imagery.
yea if you look at #6, #9, and glenn beck at #14 you can tell they really aren't receptive of conservative ideas. #DBAP and sell more books pic.twitter.com/RuU3Mj0N2V

Travis claimed authors paid tens of thousands of dollars to be on the list. Something he says he’d never do. His claim was dismissed by someone saying they worked in the industry.
Coming from someone in the book industry, I can tell you that your perception is blatantly false. FYI, not that many books are bought in the bookstore anymore. If you are number 406 on Amazon, that’s a pretty good barometer.

Furthermore, Travis claimed his book was the “bestselling sports book of the year.”
Bestselling sports book of the year by numbers.

It currently ranks eighth in the “sports and outdoors” category on Amazon.
It was also pointed out that Travis book wasn’t even the top-selling sports book of the week.
You keep saying this, how are you determining a "sports book?" By my count you arent even the highest selling sports book released your week, that would go to Ian O'Conner and the Belichick book.

The New York Times’ own Kevin Draper pointed out Clay’s book ranked 403rd on Amazon’s rankings.

Here’s Travis breaking down the numbers.

Travis’ book seemed to sell pretty well by normal bookselling standards, so there was really no need to inflate the numbers into something provably false. Having Trump dunk on Kaepernick didn’t prevent him from hitting the New York Times list. It appears he just didn’t sell enough copies to make it.
