Marshawn Lynch is apparently a trailblazer. The Seahawks bruising running back is widely known for destroying defenders but also for an intense disdain for the media, one that has led to fines and repeated interviews in which he answers with the same word or phrase. The actions have certainly ruffled a few feathers from Lynch haters and others within the NFL circle but it appears one Ohio State recruit will be joining him.

Torrance Gibson, a 4-star quarterback recruit from Plantation, Florida committed to the Buckeyes in early November. After reports surfaced that Gibson visited Auburn last weekend, many began speculating that he was wavering on his Ohio State verbal commitment. He spoke with AuburnSports.com about the visit:

I’m committed (to Ohio State), but I’m considering Auburn a lot. I don’t have a problem redshirting, but sitting two or three years, that’s not what I want to do. I want to come in and get a fair opportunity to play quarterback.

It appears to be a very fair assumption that Gibson is considering additional options. Usually when a player visits another school and proceeds to tell the media that he’s considering that school “a lot” that player is wavering at least a little.

However, Gibson is not pleased with various reports wondering if he’s considering a switch from Urban Meyer’s team.

Prep and college players should always be given a chance to explain themselves and the subsequent benefit of the doubt but unless he failed to give that quote to AuburnSports.com, it appears he has stirred up a very unnecessary mini media controversy before even stepping foot on a college or NFL field.
