Best Rap Song:

“F*ckin’ Problems” – A$AP Rocky feat. Drake, 2 Chainz, & Kendrick Lamar

“New Slaves” – Kanye West

“Started From the Bottom” – Drake

“Thrift Shop” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz

Who Should Win:

Sully – So many great songs in this category, all real deserving of the award.  Four out of five of them were radio hits that are still getting played now.  Even though it wasn’t a radio friendly song, I think Kanye’s “New Slaves” should win this award.  Its an all around great track that showcases how much more Kanye is willing to explore compared to the other rappers.  Although, it would be funny to see Nirvana win this award for “Holy Grail.”

Michael – “New Slaves”- Kanye West– This was one of the most deeply passionate and meaningful rap songs we’ve been introduced to over the last handful of years. Whether you see Kanye as an overwhelming individual or not, it is hard to deny that in New Slaves, all of that confident and in your face type passion he now carries on his shoulders, is successfully channeled into this monumental beast of a track.

Who Should Be Nominated:

Sully – “Juice” – Chance The Rapper – This is from a mixtape so I don’t think it would ever be considered for a Grammy but damn, I love this track!  Every time this song comes on me and my girlfriend scream the hook and do a 2 Chainz style dance, because that’s what you should do when you hear “Juice.”  2013 was basically an introduction to Chance and 2014 is going to be even bigger.

Michael -“Life Changes”- Casey Veggies– An absolute perfect rap track that is structured on inspiration and hopeful lyrics and paired with a beat that will leave you salivating for more of it. I failed to come across a more addictive hip-hop song in 2013. It will never actually get it’s proper shine, but cot damn, it is a certified banger.
