Watching Elfrid Payton’s hair get in the way of his shooting form was one of the funniest things in NBA action over the last few years. But, Payton won’t be having that problem anymore, as the Phoenix Suns guard cut his long locks.
His hair has been one of the most talked about ‘do’s from anyone in the NBA ever since he came into the league.
This photo comes from Payton’s Instagram (H/T to @Deadspin for capturing)

The 24-year-old is coming off another season with good, but not great numbers split between the Suns and Orlando Magic. Payton’s defensive game remained a plus, however his offensive game remained sort of a mess, averaging 12.7 points, 6.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. If you were ever would bet on this happening, or if you are into betting on baseball, hopefully you made some money!
I’m still a big believer in Payton’s ability and now that he’s cut his hair, I actually expect his shooting percentages to go up. Believe it or not, Payton’s haircut actually was a detriment to his shooting form.
I mean look how it gets in the way of his shot! Who could ever get buckets with hair in your face like that. No wonder why his shooting percentage is so low!

I’m interested to see what kind of guard Payton is without his hair blocking him.
Perhaps this change is all he needed to realize his vast potential.
