The Washington Nationals took on the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Thursday and one fan took the matchup as an opportunity to ask Nationals star Bryce Harper to her prom with a hand drawn poster.
And while Harper could have simply ignored the sign (and the fact that the fan was wearing a Pirates jersey), he politely and gently declined the fan’s request with a signed baseball.
The inscription reads:
“I hope you have a blast & enjoy it! Many blessings!”
Judging by her reaction, the fan was incredibly moved by Harper’s gesture, even though he had to decline her prom invitation.
