On Wednesday, the NFL’s Competition Committee unveiled the various rule change proposals that they will consider during next week’s league meetings.
Sure, some were rather boring and predictable. Allow any call to be challenged? Yawn. Increase the number of coaches’ challenges to three? Bleh.
Allow a possible nine-point touchdown?
A POSSIBLE NINE-POINT TOUCHDOWN!?!
God bless the Indianapolis Colts for this proposed insanity.
Per Mark Maske, NFL reporter for The Washington Post:
Colts proposing if go for 2 points after TD and make it, can attempt bonus kick for 9th point from midfield.

I’m not sure how this could fundamentally change football (adding a possible ninth point on a score would seemingly make for much more interesting game theory) but I’m all for giving coaches even more ways to second-guess themselves.
Let’s just make Jim Irsay the NFL’s rule czar for one year. I want to see what other ideas he has for the game of football.
