Baseball isn’t exactly a “national pastime” in Australia, so I guess we’ll have to excuse them for being really, really terrible at constructing outfield fences.
This past weekend, two different outfielders ran through the same fence on consecutive nights during a series between the Melbourne Aces and the Adelaide Bite. The games were hosted at Norwood Oval in Adelaide, a stadium primarily used for Australian Rules Football – probably a solid indicator why the temporary outfield walls were so shoddy. It also probably doesn’t help that there’s no warning track.
