The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao smashed plenty of revenue records and the boxers will be picking up some astronomical checks as well.
According to ESPN, Mayweather will make somewhere between $220 million and $230 million for his 12 rounds of slow, meticulous (and boring) domination of Pacquiao. Due to the 60/40 split agreement that he made with Mayweather, Pacquiao will bring home around $150 million.
Using the more conservative estimate, that means that Mayweather made about $611,111 per a minute of boxing on May 2nd. Pacquiao made roughly $416,666 per minute.
Or, to really put things into perspective:
Floyd Mayweather will earn almost as much for 36 minutes in the ring in May as Tim Duncan has made in his 18-year-career with the San Antonio Spurs ($235 million).
It’s no wonder that Mayweather isn’t that worried about traffic tickets.
