Dallas Stars defenseman Patrik Nemeth was on the bizarre end of a play that ended with the puck wedged between his face and his helmet’s visor on Monday night.
Early in the second period, Nemeth blocked a dump in attempt by a Calgary Flames player. The puck deflected off of Nemeth’s body and up under his shield, where it got lodged until referees blew play dead and the defenseman pried it out with his hands.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that happen before, but Nemeth should feel very lucky he came away with a smile on his face after that close call.
