Bobby Ryan is one of the most deadliest finishers in the NHL but we were reminded last night that even the best have their off days. The Ottawa Senators forward provided one of the season’s funniest blooper reel nominees on a breakaway against the Ducks on Wednesday night.
During a one-on-one opportunity a little more than midway through the third period in Anaheim, Ryan attempted to beat Ducks goaltender John Gibson with a few moves and then slide the puck in on the forehand. His dekes had Gibson fooled but, unfortunately for Ryan, he lost control of the biscuit and ended up tripping over Gibson’s pad, sending him tumbling into the boards in hilarious fashion.
On the bright side, the Senators still went on to win 3-0 and Ryan had a pretty good sense of humor about his failed opportunity.
