New York Jets star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams knew that teammate Aaron Rodgers has been in the league for quite a long time, but he didn’t realize exactly how long it’s been until a press conference this week.
During an interview on Wednesday, a reporter acknowledged that Aaron Rodgers was headed into his 20th season in the league. That seemed to catch Quinnen Williams off-guard as he did not realize that the future Hall of Famer has been playing quite that long.
“Twenty years? I didn’t know that. Aaron, 20 years in the NFL? Man,” Williams said according to Pro Football Talk.
Williams then took a second to put that into context as he pointed out that New York Jets rookie running back Braelon Allen is only 20 years old, meaning Rodgers has been playing football as long as he’s been alive.
“Isn’t our running back, number zero, 20 years old? So he’s been in the NFL as long as he has been alive,” Williams said. “That’s crazy, huh? I’ve got to joke with him about that.”
Obviously, it’s pretty insane that Rodgers has played this long and has remained as consistent and dominant as he has. And it sounds like Williams is as impressed as everyone else.
