The relationship between the Chicago Bears and newly franchised RB Matt Forte has been rocky for some time now, and it is only getting worse. Today the Bears signed former Oakland Raiders running back Michael Bush to a four year, $14 million contract of which $7 million is guaranteed. This is the 3rd straight year that the Bears have spent good money to sign backups at the running back position. The signing gives the Bears some solid insurance in case Forte holds out this year. The Bears recently placed a franchise tag on Forte of which he has yet to sign the $7.742 million tender offer. The Bears G.M. Phil Emery said last week that the Bears are hoping to reach an agreement by July 16, and if not Forte will have to play next season under the franchise tag. Long story short, Forte feels disrespected and he is extremely unhappy. Seems like the tipping point may have happened today.
