Justin Fields does not currently know where his future stands with the Chicago Bears as the team is deciding whether or not to stick with Fields as their starting quarterback or trade him and select a rookie quarterback with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. But Fields has now opened up about what he wants in the situation.
The quarterback broke his silence on the situation during a recent appearance on the St. Brown Bros Podcast hosted by teammate Equanimeous St. Brown and Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. And he made it very clear that in an ideal world, he would remain with the Chicago Bears.
“Yeah. Of course. Of course I want to stay,” Fields said on the podcast according to NFL.com. “I can’t see myself playing in another place, but I know how the league is.
“If it was up to me I would stay in Chicago. I love the city. The city’s lit. The fans there, they’re great. But it’s a business. I ain’t got no control over it, so whatever happens happens.”
Fields would clearly like to remain with the Bears, but more than anything else, he just wants the team to make a decision on his future so he’s no longer in limbo.
“I feel like the biggest thing with all of this going on right now is I just want it to be over,” Fields said. “Just let me know if I’m going to be traded. Let me know if I’m staying.”
We’ll have to see what happens, but it’s pretty clear what Fields wants.
