Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow has been as good as any quarterback in football when he has been able to stay on the field. However, the problem has been his ability to stay on the field, which has been a bit of a concern for him throughout his four-year NFL career thus far.
In an effort to potentially help his durability, Burrow has decided to add some weight this offseason, a move that he credits his increased attention to nutrition for.
“I’m eating more, I’m more dialed as far as nutrition and food schedule and eating when I need to so that’s been a big area of emphasis for me and I’ve seen the results,” Burrow said via the Bengals team website.
“We’re bigger. Definitely bigger. We’ll see where I’m at at the end of the offseason. I feel good about where my body is right now. I’m going to continue to get stronger and bigger throughout the offseason and just play it by ear, depending on how I feel. Like I said, I’m in a good spot right now. I’m really strong, bigger than I was. We’re going to continue to eat right, lift, and go through my routine and see where I’m at.”
In two of Burrow’s four NFL seasons, he has unfortunately been on the receiving end of a season-ending injury. So if gaining some muscle can help him potentially deal with taking hits a bit better, it should certainly be something that Bengals fans are in favor of.
