Atlanta Falcons helmets Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons have made it very clear that they were not happy with the way the team’s quarterbacks played last season as both Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke struggled in the role. But it sounds like the team is close to bringing in a quarterback who will take over as the team’s starter next season.

According to a report from NFL Draft analyst and insider Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the Atlanta Falcons are “finalizing” a trade to acquire veteran starting quarterback Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears.

“Word in Indianapolis is the Chicago Bears are close to finalizing a deal which would send former first-round pick Justin Fields to the Atlanta Falcons,” Pauline wrote for Sportskeeda.

“It is not known if the deal will be finalized or even announced before the conclusion of the Combine. As I reported on Thursday, if the Falcons can’t come to terms with the Bears for Fields they will turn their attention to Baker Mayfield if he’s available when free agency commences.”

Obviously, this is some massive news for the Falcons, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

We’ll have to see when the trade is announced and how the team performs with Fields leading the way next season.
