New York Jets superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers was surprisingly absent from the team’s mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, earning a fine for his unexcused absence. But it turns out that he isn’t just skipping the one day of practice, he’s skipping the entire week of mandatory practice.
According to a report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Aaron Rodgers is “skipping all of Jets mandatory minicamp” this week, not just one day.
“Aaron Rodgers is skipping all of Jets mandatory minicamp this week because he prefers to be somewhere else away from football. That’s his choice,” Russini said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s not clear exactly why Rodgers is choosing to skip the mandatory workouts. But during his press conference on Tuesday, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that Rodgers had decided to skip the mandatory team activities in order to attend and event that is “important to him.”
It’s worth noting that Rodgers has been in attendance throughout the vast majority of the voluntary portion of the team’s offseason workouts. These are the first practices he has decided to skip with the team.
We’ll have to see what Rodgers ultimately says about the absences.
