The administration of Joe Biden is under fire for not including women athletes in a recent discussion about athletes’ rights.

Christine Brennan, a renowned national reporter for USA Today, detailed the case against the White House in a discussion with the National Press Foundation’s Paul Miller Reporting Fellowship Class.

Brennan cited a November summit in which former college football players came to the White House to discuss “a range of issues involving college athletics,” according to NationalPress.org

“I have no idea. And that’s just, it’s crazy,” Brennan said in the free-flowing discussion. “So, that’s just a huge swing and a miss, just an awful decision by The White House, by Joe Biden’s White House, and Kamala Harris’s White House. Just an absolute, I don’t know what in the world they were thinking. And obviously, I’d be very willing to criticize them even more, but it’s just, yeah, you just can’t do it.”

Brennan went on to state her case in even simpler terms.

“You have to have women,” said Brennan, since women represent the “biggest names in college basketball now—men’s or women’s.”

The White House declined to comment on Brennan’s remarks about the injustice. National Press noted that in other events, the White House honored such women athletes as soccer star Megan Rapinoe and gymnast Simone Biles.
