With the Raptors down by six in the final minute of their game last night against the Kings, Kyle Lowry drilled a huge three pointer to bring Toronto within one possession. Or at least that’s the way things should have happened.
Instead, Lowry was whistled for what possibly may have been the worst offensive foul call I have ever seen in my lifetime. Lowry only made slight contact with Kings defender Ben McLemore on the shot follow through and it was not nearly enough to justify a call, especially at such a crucial point in the game.
Understandably, Lowry was absolutely shocked with the call and responded by running down court to try to keep a lid on his emotions. That too earned him a whistle, as new NBA guidelines say that any demonstrative actions performed in response to a ref’s call are worthy of a technical foul.
The Kings wound up winning 109-101.
