Well, it certainly didn’t take very long for the first scary hit-by-pitch of the 2015 MLB season.
The Brewers’ Jean Segura was struck in the face by a fifth inning changeup from Rockies pitcher Jordan Lyles last night in Milwaukee, sending him to the dirt for a few very tense moments. Upon replay inspection, it looked like the ball clipped the brim of Segura’s helmet before it struck him in the face, which probably went a long ways towards avoiding a serious injury.
Fortunately, Segura was able to stay in the game after being checked out by trainers. We’ve seen how devastating these kinds of situations can be, so thankfully the damage was limited on this latest incident.
