With only five of 1,267 extra-point attempts missed in 2013, a nearly automatic 99.6 percent success rate, the NFL is considering making a change to the event-less scoring system. In January, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell floated the notion that the league might eventually do away with extra points completely. However a new idea of backing the extra-point attempts from the two-yard line to the 25-yard line. This would essentially make every extra point a 42-yard attempt. The conversion rate of field goals between 40 and 49 yards last season was 83 percent so this would add a bit more intrigue. Coaches would now think twice about going for the two-point conversion which has a success rate around 50 percent.
