Over a week ago, a representative of my state, Indiana, accused the Girl Scouts of America of being a “radical organization” in a letter to his fellow Republican representatives. Rep. Bob Morris (Ft. Wayne) wrote his letter in protest to signing a resolution that would honor the 100th anniversary of the organization.
Thru internet research, Morris came to the conclusion that the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood are partners in “sexualizing young girls”, promoting a “homosexual lifestyle”, and of course promoting abortion. He goes on to claim that the Girl Scouts are “the destruction of American family values”.
He has since apologized for his reactionary tone.
Not only did his fellow representatives not take him seriously, House Speaker Brian Bosma handed out boxes of Girl Scout cookies while in session.
This is just silly. I wonder what internet sites somebody who gets voted into office uses as his ONLY source, and why a politician, who has amazing access to countless resources, by the way, is searching the internet for proof that the Girl Scouts are “subverted in the name of liberal progressive politics”. Sounds like entertaining reading.
I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m sure tired of our politicians blaming each other like preschoolers, but now they had to drag innocent girls all over American into it. Left, Right, whoever will listen, quit blaming each other, sit down and fix it together, like grown Americans would do.
