Erik Williams and Karl Wilson, Madden NFL ’95
Believe it or not, the first ever Madden cover athlete wasn’t Dan Marino, Jerry Rice or Brett Favre. It just happened to be the combination of offensive tackle Erik Williams and defensive lineman Karl Williams. True, Williams was a three-time All-Pro and Super Bowl champion, but if you are looking to sell video games, offensive lineman just don’t seem the way to go. We have a feeling that if this were today, neither Williams nor Wilson would make it past the first round of the cover vote.
