The rivalry between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines is one of the biggest, fiercest, and oldest rivalries in all of college football. And a recent bit of news will certainly add a bit of fire to that rivalry in the coming years.
The Michigan Wolverines were in need of a new running backs coach this offseason after parting ways with their previous coach, Mike Hart. And according to a report from college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN, the Wolverines have hired a coach away from their rivals to fill that position, bringing in Ohio State Buckeyes running backs coach Tony Alford.
Sources: Ohio State RB coach Tony Alford is expected to be the next running backs coach at Michigan. He's informed OSU officials that he's leaving. Football Scoop first reported him as a target.

“Sources: Ohio State RB coach Tony Alford is expected to be the next running backs coach at Michigan. He’s informed OSU officials that he’s leaving. Football Scoop first reported him as a target,” Thamel said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Alford spent nine seasons with the Buckeyes where he coached players like Ezekiel Elliott, Curtis Samuel, and J.K. Dobbins. We’ll have to see how he performs and Michigan and what kind of fuel this adds to an already fierce rivalry in the coming years.
