Last month, it was reported that the NBA’s Competition Committee recommended to change the Finals format back to a traditional 2-2-1-1-1 format, as opposed to the 2-3-2 format that had been in place since 1985. The suggestion only faced a vote of the NBA’s Board of Governors for final approval. Today, David Stern announced the NBA’s owners unanimously approved the change, which means we can add “the Finals format” to the list of things we (thankfully) never have to listen to people whine about ever again.
