As a part of his annual “Colbchella” special on The Colbert Report, which aired last night on Comedy Central, Stephen Colbert booked French electro-pop duo Daft Punk to appear and perform on the show.
Unfortunately, thanks to Viacom, Daft Punk was forced to cancel the appearance at the last second because MTV wanted “exclusive rights” to the band’s first television performance this year, which is reportedly scheduled to be a “surprise appearance” at the VMAs in a few weeks.
Oops…so much for that “surprise” huh?
For those of you wondering, the VMAs will air on August 25th.
