This is pretty much the worst possible news for the Ottawa Senators. The 2012 Norris Trophy Winner is out indefinitely after the skate of Matt Cooke lacerated his left Achilles tendon in the Senators’ Wednesday night matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Karlsson picked up right where he left off last season, leading all defenseman in goals so far with six, but will face a massive setback with this injury (which will require surgery). Karlsson was escorted off the ice by several teammates and a trainer and appeared to be in serious pain. In the following video, you can actually hear him let out a scream when he tries to gets up from the hit. The Senators went on to lose 4-2, something that they should probably start getting used to without their best player.
