The “Gatorade Shower” is as American as apple pie. For a brief moment, the hardened disciplinarian of a coach is wonderfully vulnerable as his players thank him and acknowledge that they’ve finally bought in to the coach’s system. The reward? Sweet victory.
This is one of the few times that we’ve seen the “Gatorade Shower” break down completely. In Ohio University’s 31-23 win over Temple, the Ohio players weren’t sure if it was too early or whether they’d actually clinched the Mid-American Conference…they weren’t sure what the hell was going on. Cosby Sweaters has never seen young college football players so indecisive. No disrespect to the MAC conference, but you would never see this in the SEC.
