It looks like the New York Giants have decided to put Daniel Jones on the bench.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the New York Giants are planning to bench Daniel Jones and star Tommy DeVtio coming out of the bye week.

“Sources: The #Giants are benching QB Daniel Jones, officially moving on from their starter,” Rapoport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Out of the bye week, with the team 2-8, Jones now heads to the bench in what the team has said would be a football decision,” Rapoport continued.

Jones has been the team’s starting quarterback for each of the past six seasons including this one after he was selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The team gave him a four-year contract extension before the start of the 2023 season, but he struggled early in the season and then ultimately missed the remainder of the year after suffering a knee injury.

The Giants have remained committed to him, but it seems they have changed their mind.

Jones has been one of the least accurate quarterbacks in the entire league this season, ranking near the bottom of the league in terms of completion percentage and quarterback rating.

Of course, these struggles have not exactly translated to wins as the team has just a 2-8 record.

We’ll have to see how DeVito performs in his place.
