Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers became known for his ability to extend plays with his legs throughout his career, but as one opponent found out this weekend, that mobility appears to be gone.
New England Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux got brutally honest about Aaron Rodgers during his postgame press conference following Sunday’s game.
Godchaux did not hold back as he indicated that Rodgers does not look nearly as athletic as he has in the past.
“Hall of Fame quarterback. Hate to see him go out that way,” Godchaux said of Rodgers according to Pro Football Talk. “He definitely don’t look the same.”
Godchaux went on to suggest that even he – at 330 pounds – was faster than Rodgers these days.
“[Shoot], I could run him down and catch him. He don’t look mobile at all,” Godchaux said.
While this is undeniably sad, this isn’t exactly surprising.
Last season, Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. And while he has obviously been cleared to return to the field, it’s obvious that an injury like that would still impact his mobility.
In addition to his continued recovery from the Achilles injury, Rodgers has also suffered a number of injuries throughout this season, as well, including an ankle injury and a hamstring injury.
That all goes without mentioning that Rodgers is now 40 years old and simply does not move the way he used to.
