New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers surprised a lot of people on Tuesday when he was not in attendance for the team’s mandatory minicamp, earning himself a fine as a result of the unexcused absence. But in a pretty shocking turn of events, it sounds like Rodgers won’t just be skipping one day of mandatory minicamp – he’ll be skipping the entire week.
According to a report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Aaron Rodgers is “skipping all of Jets mandatory minicamp this week,” not just the one day.
“Aaron Rodgers is skipping all of Jets mandatory minicamp this week because he prefers to be somewhere else away from football. That’s his choice,” Russini said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Needless to say, this is a pretty shocking and brutal decision from the star quarterback as the team is trying to prepare for the upcoming season, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
Aaron Rodgers is on my Mt. Rushmore of most unlikable players of my lifetime that aren’t criminals. https://t.co/ho2Dgbx0i3

I’m gonna skip all of work this week because I prefer to be somewhere else away from a corporate 9-5. That’s my choice. https://t.co/R5Wk4fa4q3

It’s going to be so sweet to watch him fail this year. I feel bad for Saleh man. He deserves better than Zach Wilson and Aaron Rodgers lmao https://t.co/DOI6EVlylc

It’s not clear exactly why Rodgers decided to skip the minicamp, but head coach Robert Saleh said on Tuesday that it was to attend an event that is “important to him.”
