Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson made some comments about new Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams that blew up more than he expected them to, but he “cleared the air” with his new teammate after Williams officially joined the team as the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
During an interview in March, Jaylon Johnson was asked about the perception that Caleb Williams has a “Hollywood” attitude, to which Johnson pointed out that if that were true, it wouldn’t play well in Chicago because “you gotta prove yourself.” But in a more recent interview, Johnson said that the “conversation was taken completely the wrong way” and that he has since rectified things with Williams.
“I cleared the air and was like, ‘Hey, that wasn’t what it was supposed to be, I don’t know you,’” Johnson said. “He hit me and was like, ‘Hey, I’m a winner, I just want to win.’ We had that conversation. I’m like it’s all good. Then I talked a little trash about Utah and USC, and it was all good.”
It sounds like the two new teammates are getting a fresh start with Williams now officially a member of the Chicago Bears.
