The Chicago Bears are all but guaranteed to select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. And naturally, there is hope that he will turn into the long-term answer to the organizations quarterback woes over the years.
It’s no secret that the Bears have had issues finding a quarterback of the future. Both Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields showed flashes of good play but ultimately didn’t end up experiencing much success in Chicago, which is why neither stuck around past their rookie contracts.
It sounds like Williams plans on changing this troubling trend. In fact, he told ESPN’s Ryan Clark in a recent interview that he plans to play in Chicago for quite some time.
“I want to play in one place for 20 years,” Williams told Clark. “And chase one guy, No. 12. I want a place that loves ball. That’s all I’ve heard about Chicago so far.”
This quote from Williams has to be music to Bears fans’ ears. Their inconsistent quarterback play has obviously held back their team success. And Williams certainly has all the potential to change that.
Luckily, Williams will be coming into a pretty good situation for a young quarterback, as the Bears have done quite a bit this offseason to improve their roster in preparation for his arrival.
Williams will have two solid wideouts at his disposal after the team brought in Keenan Allen this offseason to pair alongside DJ Moore.
Only time will tell whether Williams pans out in Chicago. But if he truly wants to play for the organization for the entirety of his career, Bears fans could be in for a ton of success in the near future.
