Marquez Valdes-Scantling has played for two quarterbacks in his career: Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers, and now Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs. And during a recent interview, he claimed that those are the two best quarterbacks in NFL history – yes, over Tom Brady.
During an interview ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Marquez Valdes-Scantling acknowledged that Tom Brady “has all the statistics,” but he claims that both Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are better quarterbacks, especially when it comes to arm talent.
“I’ve played with the two best quarterbacks to ever play this game, especially when it comes to arm talent,” Valdes-Scantling said according to Pro Football Talk. “Obviously Brady has all the statistics, but I think Pat’s getting pretty close to breaking some of those. But when it comes to arm talent, between Aaron and Pat, they’re equal, so having those two guys being my quarterbacks for my career has been nothing but life-changing. I’m grateful for both those guys, I’ve got great friendships with both those guys. I hope I can finish my career with Pat.”
This is obviously a pretty brutal message to Brady, who is widely considered the best and most accomplished quarterback in NFL history. But Brady will surely be happy with his seven Super Bowl rings even if Valdes-Scantling doesn’t think he’s the best quarterback of all time.
